A Dubbo café with a working roastery behind it
The Lab is the café at the front of Coffee Bean Roasting House in Dubbo. It operates from a repurposed shipping container at 15 Douglas Mawson Road, with the roastery working behind it.
That connection matters. The coffee served at The Lab is not an anonymous product shipped in from a distant supplier. It is selected, roasted and tested by the same local team serving it across the counter.
The Lab gives us somewhere to serve our established blends, trial different coffees and share what we are working on with the people who actually drink it. You can stop for a quick takeaway flat white before work, order ahead for collection or stay for breakfast and something sweet.
It is a small café by design, but it sits at the centre of what we do: roasting coffee in Dubbo and making sure it tastes right in the cup.

The Lab is an easy coffee stop for people travelling through Blueridge Business Park, heading to work, visiting nearby businesses or looking for somewhere away from the busier centre of town.
Place your order online through Bopple and collect it from The Lab. It is a practical option when you are on the way to work, moving between appointments or do not have time to wait.
There is on-site parking at 15 Douglas Mawson Road and plenty of roadside parking so you do not need to search for a park or walk several blocks to collect a takeaway coffee.
The beans served at The Lab are roasted at Coffee Bean Roasting House in Dubbo. The people serving the coffee work alongside the people who roast and cup it and supply it to cafes all over regional NSW.
What makes a coffee worth coming back for?
There is no single coffee that every person will call the best coffee in Dubbo. Some people want a strong flat white that still tastes like coffee through milk. Others prefer a balanced long black, a sweeter latte or something different from the usual house blend.
For us, good coffee starts with freshness, but it does not end there. A coffee also needs to be roasted for the way it will be served, prepared carefully and adjusted when the weather, grinder or beans change.
The Lab benefits from being connected directly to the roastery. Our café team can speak with the roasting team, test new coffees and make adjustments. Likewise, our roasting team hears the direct feedback from customers and the cafe team without the distance that normally exists between a café and its supplier.
That does not mean every coffee needs to be unusual or complicated. Most mornings, people simply want a reliable cup made properly, served by someone friendly and ready when they need it. That is the standard The Lab works towards every day.

More than a café attached to a coffee brand
The Lab is located at the front of Coffee Bean Roasting House, not in a separate retail location disconnected from where the coffee is produced.
The name is deliberate. The Lab gives our roasting and café teams a place to test coffees, recipes and ideas with direct feedback from local customers.
Experimentation matters, but so does consistency. The café still needs to make a dependable flat white, cappuccino or long black for the person stopping before work.
