Housed within the historic Woonah Court building at 46 Wingewarra Street, our café is steeped in local heritage. Known to many as the Richardson & Sinclair building, this site has long been a centre for business and community in Dubbo. The name ‘Woonah,’ meaning ‘camping place’ in the Wiradjuri language, reflects the building’s deep roots as a gathering point throughout its history, particularly as a thriving hub for trade, auctions, and business.
The Auctioneer Café takes its name from the stock and station agents and the auction rooms that have long operated within Woonah’s walls. For decades, deals were struck, trades were made, and the hum of commerce filled these rooms. Today, we continue that legacy of connection – our part is encouraging engagement over a cup of coffee and a plate of something delicious.
Step inside, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by original features that speak to Woonah’s rich past. The intricate ceiling, ceramic floor tiles, and large, light-filled windows create a unique blend of old-world charm and modern comfort.
Beyond the café doors, our cosy courtyard offers a peaceful retreat. Tucked away from the bustle of Dubbo’s centre, it’s the perfect spot to unwind with a book, catch up with friends, or enjoy a quiet moment with your favourite coffee.
The Auctioneer Café is a place where history meets hospitality, and where every visit adds another chapter to Woonah’s enduring story. We invite you to be part of it.
